Welcome Home Mossy
This 3 day weekend ended with Chad, Cassidy and I making a 12 hour road trip to find our new pup. Bryce joined us for the last leg of the journey and to help with the process. Chad and I had decided we couldn't get another Lab just yet and we've been looking at many different breeds. "Mossy", short for Mossberg (Chad's shotgun), is a 7 week old English Setter puppy who stole our hearts. She is very sweet and for being so little seems pretty game for anything. This is her with her Mom. She is in the "field" line, which means they are smaller with much less feathering than the "show" line. The mom was probably only around 35-40 lbs and the dad just slightly heavier. Both were pretty energetic but very loving. The breed has a reputation for being couch potatoes inside but with great endurance when outside playing or hunting.
Cassidy and Mossy seemed to hit it off from the start, and Cassidy started asking right away if we were taking the puppy home. Mossy was quick to start following Cassidy, running behind and trying to keep up. It won't be too long....
Echo came along as well to give her approval and I think they'll be good buddies...Echo hasn't been the same since loosing Remi and we are hoping the puppy will help. They had fun on the farm, but I think Echo was a little confused when the pup came home with us...we'll see!
Check out that stride!
Uncle Bryce kept Cassidy moving while Chad and I discussed our plan. It was a huge help considering we had 5+ hours in the car to get back home.
Once home one of the first jobs was to give her a bath. The farm that she came from wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. There were quite a few dogs and she was outside. Poor lil' thing has some pretty good nics from her kennel mates, but no doubt she'll be tough.
Chad, Cassidy and Mossy spent the day getting a vet check (all clear, just needs to put on some weight and muscle) and then puppy supplies, including a new bed and lots of toys! Cassidy made sure they brought some good stuff home for Echo too.
Mossy is very curious and doesn't miss much that's going on. No doubt her and Cassidy are going to be great friends.
Mossy has some pretty big paws to fill, but I think she'll be up for the challenge. The breed shares many great attributes with Labs, but some major differences as well. It should be interesting! But so far she has settled in well and has been great. She is probably one of the sweetest, and softest, lil pups I've known. There is very little nipping and lots of cuddling, definitely the good stuff.

Visit
Our good friends Aaron, Maggie, Ainsley and her new sweet sweet baby sister Pria came by for a visit. Cassidy loved having a real baby to take care of and cuddle and an "older sister" to play with and of course show her new room.
Cassidy also wanted to share Ziggy with Ainsley and the girls had a blast riding double. Ainsley was a great sport about being squished into the saddle and Cass was very proud of her pony.
It was great seeing them again...we have visits way too far apart considering we are only an hour and half away. We are going to do better!

Bedtime
More Snow
We had a great day in the snow today. Before 10am we had a good 4" of wet PNW snow with the really big flakes.
The fun began with Echo's favorite game of catch
Cassidy has huge belly laughs at Echo jumping at the snow and was quick to get in on the action
Cassidy found out how good fresh snow tastes....
so we decided to come in for some real "snow cones"...a little fresh snow mixed with some cool-aide...yum!
Sadly, the roads have cleared and it looks like there will be school tomorrow....Oh, the joy of snow days!

December Magic
Ok, I'll be the first to say it....there are a ridiculous number of pictures in this post, but it was a really great Christmas season. Cassidy brought the magic back in full force starting as soon as she helped pick out the tree and Daddy to cut it down. She couldn't wait to get home to put on the "pretty lights" and then danced around as we turned them on. She had a blast hanging the ornaments up and thought it was the "prettiest tree ever".

Then Grandma Margie came and the party started. Day one, Cassidy got a pedicure and as you can see thought she was pretty hot stuff

With Cassidy's love of "pretty lights" this year, we went back down to the Lights of Christmas for some pure magic
When we got home, despite it being close to 10pm, Cassidy knew she had a job to do...getting ready for Santa. Even though she didn't want to sit on his lap this year, she was definitely excited he was coming to visit and had helped me make special cookies just for him.

Cassidy coming up with Chad...she had to put on her "special" dress before we were able to see what Santa brought. I thought Papa Doug was going to start with out her!
Chad even let me get "Bucky" into the Christmas spirit with his own personalized hat

Next came the actual festivities and the spoilin' officially started...We had a wonderful Christmas Eve with Chad's family and Cassidy, as always, totally loved playing with her cousins...and beating them at Hungry Hippo. From the first game out of the box I don't think she's lost yet. We had a great evening and Cassidy was definitely in the Christmas spirit.

The next day was spent relaxing and hanging out. Cassidy and Grandma Margie decorated a gingerbread house and cookies and Papa Doug cuddled and lost at Hungry Hippo, oh yah, and ate cookies.
It was a wonderful month full of family and magic. Little ones really do make the season more fun.
