Spring Break

The great thing about the NW is that when we get a little sun, we feel like it's summer! With Cass being in pre-school this year, we actually had a "spring break" and had a great time with a little inside play and took advantage of the sun
when we saw it...

Cassidy also got to spend some time with cousins Lindsey and Brady, Auntie Lori and G'ma Kit who took them all to the big town and spent the night in a hotel with some good pool time, something called a "sneak" that even Lulu got to go on and dinner at Spaghetti Factory.
Pretty sure she had a good first Spring Break!

Chaos Returns

Ok, chaos never really left but I lost track of the score a long time ago and Chaos Returns sounded pretty catchy...
It all started on a semi-sunny afternoon, or at least sunny enough for Cassidy to get outside and get some energy out while I worked in the kitchen with the twins. As I checked on her I noticed her dragging poor Echo around by the collar so I asked if she would like a leash for Echo (Sorry Echo. Thanks for taking one for the team...again). YEAH came the reply, so we hooked it up and off she went and I went back to getting ready to start dinner amazingly pretty close to on-time. The next time I looked out Cass had the leash on Mossy...uh-oh, not a good idea as Mossy is a little more ummm exuberant then Echo. Just as I was headed out to tell her to put the leash back on Echo (after making sure the girls were ok in their bumbo seats on the counter and had a few toys to chew on) I hear "MOSSY NO!" and then definite crying. I come around the corner to see Cass face down in the grass and Mossy running after a ball dragging the leash....After calming Cass down, making sure there was no blood, explaining why Mossy wasn't a good idea and switching the leash back to Echo I headed back inside to my twins content and just as I had left them....oh no wait, that's in a different house. My girls managed to knock over my ever present water bottle which I had just filled but forgot to cap. There was water everywhere and running down the cabinets. The best part though was that both girls had twisted just enough in their seats to get one foot into the water and were splashing away and yes, perfectly content and soaked. After getting the water cleaned up and the girls crying because they were no longer splashing and had to get changed, in comes Cass, holding the leash and crying saying "Echo won't let me catch her and neither will Mossy". So much for that idea and now it's well after 6:00 and we should be eating dinner and the twins should be down for a nap but that must be in that other house too....In our house I'm wondering how long that meat will stay in the fridge that I was going to make tonight that I was originally going to make 2 nights ago and if Cassidy would like scrambled eggs again and which girl might be content in the swing and which might be ok in the bouncy thing and if any really needed baths tonight because after all there is always tomorrow....

6 month stats

Our girls had their 6 month well child checks today and they are doing great! Here are the updated stats:

Rylee (in white with purple trim)- weight: 15 pounds 4 oz and 25 1/4 inches long; 30th and 35th percentile. Dr. said he wasn't even sure he could hear her heart murmur...YAY! We'll keep watching it though. She did great and was happy and content right up until the shots, but recovered well.
Sawyer (stripes) - weight 14 pounds 11 oz and 25 inches long; 30th percentile for both. Dr. was happy with how her belly button was looking and said again he thinks it will continue to improve and not need surgery...YAY! She never stopped moving/squirming during the visit and Dr. said "is this normal?" Yes "Maybe that's why she weighs less" Yes. She was happy and did great and also recovered pretty quickly from the shots.

Overall everything is going perfectly. They were taken off their reflux medicine and have the green light to try all sorts of yummy food....Oh the fun we will have!

Spring Chick

Have I mentioned Cassidy's egg business? No? Well, since we didn't have much to do around here we decided to help out our neighbor with her surplus of eggs and "sell" them to a few other neighbors. It involves Cassidy and I (and maybe two other girls) gathering eggs most days, washing them and delivering, then picking up some feed every once in a while when we are at the feed store. Cassidy loves it and the "grown-up" responsibility of delivering eggs and reminding me about getting the feed. She is also in love with the newest part....chicks! Kathy gave her the added responsibility of helping to tame down this year's chicks by petting and holding them while she is at work. Cassidy will get to pick one out to band and have as her "own" as soon as they get a little bigger. Just look at that face! She is so gentle and careful with them and makes sure they have clean water and a little scratch.

Our other spring chicks have been enjoying some outside time while I've been trying to tackle the weeds and get ready to plant...30 minutes at a time! They are pretty cute too...

Special Weekend

We had a wonderful and rare visit from Carmen and her folks, Richard and Constance, this weekend. Richard and Constance had been up from Battleground in Nov. to meet the girls and I'm amazed they wanted to come back! It's been way too long sine we saw Carmen and I'm so glad (and grateful) that she made the trip!
We had a great and sunny day and a half, of which we spent most of the time inside doing family stuff. Carmen loved getting to meet the twins, hanging out and being Auntie to Cassidy. Cass LOVED being with Carmen and all the fun things they did, especially making sugar cookies. Richard and Constance were slightly amazed, ok totally amazed, that the girls were the same babies they had seen back in November and thoroughly enjoyed hanging out with our smiling happy constantly moving bundles of joy.

We spent the afternoon Friday at Deception Pass with a little hike down to the beach. It was a beautiful afternoon and we couldn't resist heading outside to play.

The visit was much too short, but I'll take it! Thank you Carmen, Richard and Constance...can't wait to see you again! Maybe next time us girls will come get some sun in New Mexico! Carmen...Cassidy wanted me to show you what the cookies looked like after she decorated them...I think she had a good time

Beach Day

On the way home from preschool today, my very smart daughter said; "Mama, the blue sky is out. Can we go to the beach today?" (by the way, we woke up to a dusting of snow this morning) My first thoughts of course were all the things that needed to get done, lunch, naps, cleaning and on and on, but then the smarter side of my brain kicked in and I said yes, if the sun was still out after lunch. I'm soooo glad it was, we had a wonderful afternoon and I've decided we definitely need to seize the sun more often!
Cassidy never slowed down and neither did Mossy! Echo loved being around and in the water and kept close to her girl
The twins loved being out, not a peep out of them despite missing naps...there were quite a few excited kicks and head swivels as they were trying to keep track of all the action After an hour and half at the beach they were sound asleep before the 5 minute drive home (Rylee is in the backpack, Sawyer in the front)

Despite Cass saying "I promise I won't go swimming or get in the water" in response to my warning of it being pretty cold to go to the beach she amazed me by repeatedly giggling when waves came up over her boots. "Isn't that cold" I asked her..."Nope" was the reply but she added "I think my tights might be wet". Tights? She didn't even wear a dress to school today, where did the tights come from? Wet tights (and boots and pants) didn't slow her down though
We did have to strip down to panties and shirt to make the trip home and I have a whole extra pile of laundry but I wouldn't have traded this afternoon for anything...definitely the good stuff!

Spring

Spring fever has hit my little girl head on...she's pretty cute running barefoot in her carharts!
My new strategy for outings! The twins are too heavy to both be in the front packs so we've busted out the backpack and it works pretty well....at least for now!
We've been able to have some fun times in the house too
Sawyer tackling that big ol' dog!

Rylee on the right
Story time

It's awesome to get the sun and spreading cheer inside too!
