Welcome Home Mossy

This 3 day weekend ended with Chad, Cassidy and I making a 12 hour road trip to find our new pup. Bryce joined us for the last leg of the journey and to help with the process. Chad and I had decided we couldn't get another Lab just yet and we've been looking at many different breeds. "Mossy", short for Mossberg (Chad's shotgun), is a 7 week old English Setter puppy who stole our hearts. She is very sweet and for being so little seems pretty game for anything. This is her with her Mom. She is in the "field" line, which means they are smaller with much less feathering than the "show" line. The mom was probably only around 35-40 lbs and the dad just slightly heavier. Both were pretty energetic but very loving. The breed has a reputation for being couch potatoes inside but with great endurance when outside playing or hunting.

Cassidy and Mossy seemed to hit it off from the start, and Cassidy started asking right away if we were taking the puppy home. Mossy was quick to start following Cassidy, running behind and trying to keep up. It won't be too long....
Echo came along as well to give her approval and I think they'll be good buddies...Echo hasn't been the same since loosing Remi and we are hoping the puppy will help. They had fun on the farm, but I think Echo was a little confused when the pup came home with us...we'll see!
Check out that stride!
Uncle Bryce kept Cassidy moving while Chad and I discussed our plan. It was a huge help considering we had 5+ hours in the car to get back home.
Once home one of the first jobs was to give her a bath. The farm that she came from wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. There were quite a few dogs and she was outside. Poor lil' thing has some pretty good nics from her kennel mates, but no doubt she'll be tough.
Chad, Cassidy and Mossy spent the day getting a vet check (all clear, just needs to put on some weight and muscle) and then puppy supplies, including a new bed and lots of toys! Cassidy made sure they brought some good stuff home for Echo too.
Mossy is very curious and doesn't miss much that's going on. No doubt her and Cassidy are going to be great friends.
Mossy has some pretty big paws to fill, but I think she'll be up for the challenge. The breed shares many great attributes with Labs, but some major differences as well. It should be interesting! But so far she has settled in well and has been great. She is probably one of the sweetest, and softest, lil pups I've known. There is very little nipping and lots of cuddling, definitely the good stuff.
